How do I use my own mods in Carmageddon: Reincarnation?

To use your own mods in Carmageddon: Reincarnation you must use CarMODgeddon mode.

The Mod archives extension has now been changed.

.zad files are not recognised by CarMODgeddon

.zip is now recognised by CarMODgeddon

TDXs are now supported, and vehicle names can now be set.

If you MODIFY or download MODABLE content to the game, you need to use the CarMODgeddon version of the game. To launch the game in CarMODgeddon mode, do the following:

  • In Steam, go to the library of games
  • Find Carmageddon: Reincarnation
  • Right click and select Launch “CarMODgeddon mode”

Launching the game by pressing the Play button in Steam will also bring up the option to choose between Carmageddon: Reincarnation and CarMODgeddon modes.

To get set up with CarMODgeddon, you need to create a folder called “CarMODgeddon” in your game folder (next to bin etc).

If you want to add levels, you’ll need a folder called “Levels” inside which you will need to put the modded content.

Same for Vehicles, you’ll need to add a “Vehicles” folder containing the modded content. When adding content you need a folder inside the .zip folder with the same name as the .zip (e.g C1Annihilator.zip should have a folder inside it named C1Annihilator and the content should be inside that folder).
